Keratin is a natural protein found in our hair, skin, and nails. It is responsible for providing strength and structure to our hair strands. Imagine it as the architectural scaffolding that holds our hair together, giving it its shape and resilience. Everyone’s specific scaffolding is different however the science is the same. In the circumstance where the structure of the hair is curly or frizzy it can be difficult to style and manage. In humid climates the hair lifts, poofs and becomes frizzy. Keratin levels can also become depleted over time due to heat styling, chemical treatments, and environmental damage.

Keratin straightening treatment utilizes a formula rich in keratin that is carefully applied to the hair, infusing it with the much-needed protein smoothing the hair and reducing unwanted frizz and curl at the root. It’s important to note that the system we use does not contain formaldehyde which is harmful to the eyes and skin. We use a Vegan restorative formula with no harsh chemicals or smell. Vegan Keratin results are NOT permanent like dangerous formaldehyde based systems.

Hair Botox is only a deep conditioning treatment that smooths the hair by repairing it. Keratin Treatment straightens the hair by about 55% at the root as well as repairs the Keratin. We will recommend Hair Botox when the client comes in and the hair is very damaged and needs to be repaired prior to colouring. If the client has curl at the root and frizz from heat and colour we will never do a Keratin treatment even if the client requires straightening. Often in that situation we will recommend the Hair Botox first get the hair repaired and in 6 months recommend Keratin for it’s straighteing abilities.
